If you are considering hiring a photographer for newborn twin photography at home, you may be wondering what all that entails.
Before I dive into what you can expect during your newborn session, congratulations on your growing family! It’s probably safe to assume that if you’re reading this, you’re currently expecting or maybe recently had a baby and are searching for a Richmond VA newborn photographer to help you preserve the fleeting moments of infancy. It’s such an exciting time and I’m so happy for you!
What is a lifestyle session?
Newborn photos at home, or a lifestyle session, is just what it sounds like; professional photos taken in your home of you + your new family. Lifestyle photography is a more documentary style and will typically include candid, authentic moments along with posed images and the details that make your home. Most newborn sessions will be spent primarily in the nursery, the master bedroom, and in a living room.
Bonus! Pets can be included in your portraits as long as they are safe with the baby!
With a newborn session, it’s important to stay flexible and allow the baby (or in this case babies!) lead the flow. My clients can anticipate images in a nursery to include:
- Babies in their crib
- Parents holding babies, posed
- Parents interacting with babies
- Individual parents with babies
- Details of the nursery
- Details of babies in parents arms, crib, etc.
- Everyday activities like reading or playing with the babies
Oftentimes, we will move into the master bedroom for snuggles on the bed. The images from the master bedroom typically include:
- Everyone piled on the bed, in one another’s arms
- Posed family portraits
- Candid interaction
- Details of the moments
- Individual parents with babies
- Babies snuggled up in the bed
Finally, we will head into the living room for a few more family portraits. The portraits in the living areas truly are as unique as your home is, and depend on what light is available and what client wishes are.
As a Richmond & Charlottesville newborn twin photographer, I absolutely love newborn portraits at home. It’s a beautiful way to document this exact chapter of your life, in the space you have created with your partner and call home. Twin newborn photos taken at home are full of a magical kind of love. It’s an authentic love you don’t see quite anywhere else, aside from in the quiet moments, in private.
I’m honored to be chosen by so many families in the Cville area and look forward to meeting all of the new babies on their way!
