As an Extended Family Photographer, one of my favorite types of sessions is extended families, with generations of family members. Parents work for years to create a good life & raise children who then go off to create their own family and busy lives. It’s so special to be able to document the family legacy as it continues to grow and evolve.

During the earlier years when starting a family, there are so many milestones that present perfect opportunities for professional photos. As the years go on, children grow older and schedules get busier. It’s not as easy to coordinate everyone and life passes on. As a parent of young children myself, I know how fast time goes by. I can just imagine how close college and beyond is, in the grand scheme of things. Graduations, weddings, and grandchildren are around the corner and are all moments worth celebrating & documenting, too.
As your family grows, so does your legacy.

The unbreakable bond of the first granddaughter and her grandparents should be well documented! Look at how loved this little girl is and I just know how much her grandparents treasure these moments together as a whole family.
What can I expect from my photographer for an extended family photoshoot?
When clients reserve me as their photographer for an extended family, there are a few more steps involved than when the session is for a single family.
Part of the process is helping a family determine what to wear.
Dressing one family can feel daunting, let alone dressing multiple families. Don’t worry, though! I’m here to help with styling! Choose a color palette that everyone agrees on and dress everyone within the chosen colors. Pink, blue, and cream/white is a great combo for at the beach or the mountains!
The day of the session, I will walk everyone through the process, one step at a time. Simply show up with a great attitude & enjoy some quality time together!
