I think one universal truth for parents is recognizing just how fast our kids grow up, especially once they hit elementary school. As a beach family photographer, there’s nothing I love more than working with a family with older children and hearing the hilarious, insightful things older kids have to say. The session featured below is a beautiful example of why you should carve out time to update family portraits regularly and how much fun family photos can be.
They blinked and their baby girl is now a beautiful young lady, growing into a wonderful human with her own thoughts and opinions. All too soon, she’ll be learning to drive and graduating high school.
We can’t stop the time, but we can prioritize documenting the different chapters of life.

This age is the sweet spot, where she still loves hanging out with her parents, but also has a sense of independence and is coming into her own person. These three have a great time together and you can tell their bonds are strong. I especially love the photos of each parent with their daughter and think we got some of the best smiles of the year in this session.
