I’m going to let you in on a little secret…. you can still look cute and stylish in maternity clothes! Not only that but they can be so comfortable you don’t want to give them up! I still fondly remember this cream open front maternity cardigan I had, I only passed it along because I was embarrassed that the tag clearly said maternity lol! I regret giving it away so much now. Knowing where to shop is key AND knowing what to shop for! That is why I put together this post to help you shop for maternity clothes in Alexandria Va!
I highly suggest trying out a capsule wardrobe for maternity clothes. It will make shopping easier and keep your spending down so you can get more fun things for the nursery! I will write a blog post soon on putting together a maternity capsule wardrobe. In the meantime, let’s get down to some local shopping!
Shop Local – Maternity Clothes Alexandria Va
Whenever possible I suggest starting out with local shops. They tend to have pre-owned maternity items that are in great condition. Some even still have the tags on them! Plus when you are done you can consign right back to them and get back some of your cash. Also now that Motherhood Maternity is closing it really leaves pregnant moms searching for places to shop in person for maternity clothes.
In Alexandria Va, there are a few shops that carry consignment maternity clothes along with baby clothes. I love how active these small businesses are on social media including Facebook and Instagram. You can shop from your phone, pay online and have items shipped directly to you!
529 Kids Consign
529 Kids Consign is an adorable upscale maternity & kids consignment boutique featuring brands like Baby Boden, Hannah Andersson, Lacoste, Lilly Pulitzer, Petunia Pickle Bottom, Vineyard Vines, and many more. They offer two locations in Alexandria, the first is located off S. Royal Street in charming Old Town Alexandria. The second, 529 Hollin Hall is only 5 miles away off Ft. Hunt Road.
Check them out on Facebook and Instagram. Plus learn more about consigning with them at their website: https://www.529kidsconsign.com/ and http://www.529hollinhall.com/ .
Bellies & Babies
Bellies & Babies is a high-end consignment boutique specializing in maternity & children’s clothing in the heart of Del Ray in Alexandria, VA. The owner is passionate about supporting the local Del Ray and Alexandria, Va community. I LOVE that they offer maternity rentals perfect for cocktail and holiday parties, baby/bridal showers, weddings, and formal events! Plus I may have snagged two Lilly Pulitzer dresses (non-maternity) for me and one for Grace (baby Lilly) when I stopped by!
Check them out on Facebook and Instagram. Plus learn more about their special occasion maternity clothes rentals on their website: https://www.belliesbabies.com/
2 Hearts 1 Dress
I’m including this store in my Shop Local list because even though it’s in Fredericksburg it is worth the drive! Unlike the shops above this store focuses mainly on maternity and nursing clothing. Stacy carries just a few items for babies like teething rings and necklaces but the majority of the store is dedicated to moms! She offers new and gently worn items perfect for work or play and even gets in more formal dresses on occasion. Plus she even has a space carved out in the shop for moms to stop and nurse their babies or change diapers!
Check her out on Facebook and Instagram where she is always posting new inventory that you can just message her to purchase. Check out her website where in addition to new maternity clothes she is offering custom breastmilk jewelry: http://2hearts1dress.com/ .
Target
I’m definitely a Target girl and my favorite store did not disappoint when I was pregnant! The selection in store is limited but keep an eye out for cute pieces to be stocked. All of my maternity jeans came from Target and a quick tip I learned was to size down one size from my normal pants size to help with sagging. It worked great for me so maybe give it a try! I really love the long and thick t-shirts they carry in white, gray and black. No lie I still buy them because they don’t look like maternity and are so comfy!
Plus if you check out their online selection you’ll find even more great stuff! I suggest following #targetmaternity on IG to see how other mamas wear their maternity clothes. https://www.target.com/c/maternity-clothing-women/-/N-5ouvi
I’m working on a post for where to shop confidently online for maternity clothes next. I have been the victim of the famous Chinese knockoffs and I’ve also scored some killer deals on good quality clothes online so we will chat all about that soon! Plus I’ll put together a capsule wardrobe post for maternity clothes to help you shop smartly.
