That is our new motto around the house, DIY is not DIP! DIY is of course Do It Yourself and DIP is now known as Do It Perfect. I love DIY stuff, I like planning out a project and the changes it will make to a room or to our life, I love playing with my power tools in the garage. I love making a fantasy off Pinterest a reality in my home!
But I’m not always 100% perfect in my execution, my cuts aren’t all 100% correct. I may go through 2 lengths of crown moulding to get the right angle for the sloped ceiling on one side and the mitred corner on the other. I might be off 1/4 or an 1/8 of an inch on a cabinet so when we test fit it we realize that sucker is never coming back out. That just means painting it in place instead of in the garage. Hey it fit which was money in my book!
I would rather save $1000’s doing it ourselves and learn to love the fact that it’s not 100% perfect. I’m guessing even if we did pay someone else there would be things we find that aren’t perfect either. Plus I just love house projects and learning new skills and how to use new tools! For our living room makeover I’ll be talking about over the next couple weeks we purchased a nail gun and this girl is in heaven! I’ve got a list of new projects for me and my nail gun :).
So coming up I’ll be sharing with you how we replaced our carpet with hardwoods, updated our fireplace with tile and a new surround and finally added built-ins on either side.
Check out some ideas I have for our living room makeover below on my Pinterest board! Now I’m not saying things should fall apart but a little caulk is magic for hiding some sins ;).
