It’s anniversary week at our house! David and I celebrated our 3rd anniversary yesterday and I thought I would share with you some of the traditions we have that I love!
Love It!
1. Cake Knife and Server set! My parents have a tradition where they cut all our birthday cakes with their wedding knife. David and I love this tradition so I made sure to pick a beautiful knife and server set. Last night while I pulled out the boxes and unwrapped our set I thought about the cakes this set will cut, many more anniversaries and birthdays. I can’t wait!
2. Lemon Raspberry Cake! I have a strong passion for lemons, I love lemonade and my favorite cake or cupcake flavor is lemon. My awesome mom and sister have perfected a lemon cupcake recipe where they doctor the icing so it is extra lemony! So of course our wedding cake had to be lemon and we added a raspberry filling. So yummy!!! For our anniversary I make a lemon raspberry cake every year. This year I did not do such a good job, I used box cake and icing. Bad choice. I have looked up some new recipes for next year though and I have a goal to learn to at least make my icing look better by learning piping or something. In the meantime while my cake doesn’t look pretty this year it is pretty tasty!! Oh I almost forgot I serve the cake on a cake stand that was a wedding present too! It was my great grandparents cake stand!
3. Champagne! David mentioned last night that we only drink champagne twice a year, once on New Years which is when we got engaged and then on our anniversary. We have beautiful champagne flutes with cherry blossom stems etched on them and I make David link arms to drink out of them and give a toast. Cheesy wedding traditions but I love them 🙂
Hate It!
1. Broken flute! Yep I knocked over one of our champagne flutes in the sink and it broke 🙁 Now I need to make a call to Lenox to order a replacement.
