I love a good nursery theme and Kristin knocked it out of the park with her Kate Spade inspired nursery! The black and white striped lamp with the gold bow was absolute Kate Spade perfection. I really love how she paired the gold dot blackout curtains from Target with a black curtain rod, it really pops against the pink walls!
I see a lot of nurseries doing newborn photography in Miami, it’s one of my favorite parts of my job. I love walking into a gorgeous nursery and chatting with mom about what inspired her design choices! Kristin was happy to tell me all about it so I could share it with you!
I’m participating in a blog circle this month and linking to the sweetest photographer in Scotland! Check out that link at the end of the post.
Bows & Stripes Kate Spade Inspired Nursery
What inspired your nursery design?
“I love stripes, fun colors and gold accents. I really wanted Caroline’s nursery to be fun, feminine and modern without screaming “baby room”. I really wanted something that would grow with her from being a baby into a little girl some day. I love the fun and whimsical designs of Kate Spade and wanted to incorporate these into Caroline’s nursery. I focused on black and white stripes, bows, and gold accents all with a blush pink backdrop.”
Did you have a particular budget in mind for your Bows & Stripes Kate Spade Inspired Nursery?
No
On which items did you splurge vs. save?
“We splurged on the design accents from Pottery Barn baby and teen. We saved money on her furniture and decided we’d upgrade to a nicer set when she is a bit older. We also decided against an expensive glider because we weren’t sure how much we’d use it. We got a lot of mixed reviews from friends and family about how useful it would. We ended up using it a lot but the one we chose fit perfectly in our small space so it was still a great choice for us.”
Did you experience any challenges with your nursery design?
“Picking out the perfect paint color was so hard. I am indecisive and we probably went through 10-15 paint samples from 3-4 stores before I chose one. It held up the entire process and we were working on her room until just a few weeks before she arrived.”
Is there anything else you’d like to share about your Bows & Stripes Kate Spade Inspired Nursery?
“This was the most fun part of the pregnancy process for me. I loved transforming the space (which used to just be a storage room)into Caroline’s bedroom. It quickly became one of my favorite rooms in our house. Now that we’re getting ready to move, I am excited to incorporate some additional design details I had to leave out the first time around because we were limited on space. On that note, I am so grateful to have Melissa’s photos of her first room to remember it by. We cherish those pictures and I plan to hang some of these in her new room!”
Any final tips or advice?
“Choose something that makes you happy! Black and white is not a ‘traditional’ choice for a baby’s room but I knew that I would love it and it would make me happy so I did it anyways.”
