When I walked into this nursery I immediately knew this mama had some interior design training! One of my favorite things about being a natural newborn photographer in Arlington is seeing all the amazing nurseries! In this photo session, I saw bold colors balanced with neutrals to not be overwhelming, textures spread throughout the room, stylish storage, and subtle artwork. The mid-century modern dresser/changing table had me at hello!
Bold Colors
Let’s chat about picking colors for the nursery and how bold should you go! The easy answer to that is as bold as you want! I was right about this mama and yes she is an interior designer so she felt comfortable adding a bright green accent wall to the nursery. She balanced it beautifully with white walls for the rest of the room. That is the way to do an accent wall, it needs to stand on its own, so keep the other walls as neutral as possible.
Accenting With Color
So she started with a bold accent wall and then 3 neutral walls. Next, she layered in the green curtains and textured white rug. The white crib has a splash of green in the quilt laid over the side. Plus the beautiful green pillow on her rocker. I really love how the green pops with the fresh white around the room! When planning your nursery colors think about where you can add color without making it overwhelming.
Add-In A Cute Pet
You should know that I’m a sucker for dogs in general and especially dogs in newborn sessions! We had dogs before we had kids and they were our fur babies. So it was important for us to get photos of our fur babies with our human baby. I know my clients feel the same way!
