I don’t think I need to say a lot about this nursery because you are going to have the same reaction I had walking in! WOW!!!!! I’m definitely a Star Wars fan and I’ve seen a few nursery designs featuring it but NO ONE has ever had real lightsabers on the wall!!! Everything about this design was perfection, I loved how they kept the paint, rug and curtains neutral to let the smaller elements that were personal really shine. I’m going to let you read all about those little details from my client below. May the force be with you!
Star Wars Nursery
What inspired your nursery design?
Pottery Barn Star Wars nursery décor and the fact that my hubby is a bit of a nerd. Lol. Since we were having a boy he was excited to design the nursery. I supported his nerdism.
Did you utilize help from any professional designers?
My very talented friend and her mom came over to help paint the nursery and help us pick out the curtains, curtain rod, area rug and star wars lamp. They just started their own IG account @liveingracedesign.
Did you have a particular budget in mind for your Star Wars Nursery?
Yes! I am a budget Queen. I had a savings account set up for his nursery from the paint to the lighting. However we were very blessed to use the same crib and diaper changing table that was our nieces. So that added a special touch. The Millennium Falcon that hangs above the light was gifted to Riker from his Uncle Jay. That was his Uncles toy he received back in 1979 and he thought he would passed on to his nephew. That was a special touch so we thought we definitely needed to incorporate that in. My favorite thing we incorporate is the light sabers. The green one was passed down to Riker from my husband and the red one was purchased. It was still in our budget and well worth it.
On which items did you splurge vs. save for your Star Wars Nursery?
The red light saber was definitely the spurge! The savings came from family mementos. Also the vinyl on the wall was from a sweet friend and she also made him the personalized frame.
Did you experience any challenges with your nursery design?
Everything came together seamless. The only challenge was us trying to figure out how to hang the millennium falcon. My hubby wanted to put it in a shadow box, but we came to the conclusion that it would take away from the design. So we connected a picture frame hook to the back and voile! It added that special touch.
Is there anything else you’d like to share about your Star Wars Nursery?
I don’t forget my blessings. Every night look around his nursery as I am rocking him to sleep. I think of each family member or friend that added something unique and personalized to it. I think of how loved Riker is to have so many put love into the place he has grown in the last year.
Any final tips or advice?
Have fun with the process and with your spouse. This is a special moment in your lives. Try not to stress if your on “nesting” mode. It will all come together.
