Why take Anniversary Images?
After long days spent at work and at home with the kids, you try to connect for a few minutes to tell each other about your day. You find yourself talking louder and LOUDER as littles pushing fire trucks race around the kitchen blissfully unaware or they don’t care that Mommy and Daddy want to talk. Next up you tackle dinner, bath time, PJs and bedtime stories before collapsing on the couch. Barely 30min pass and one of you is snoring because you have to get up at 4:45 am and do it all over again. Somewhere in there, you got maybe 15min to connect.
Busy Lives
Does that sound familiar because that happens in my house every weeknight! Weekends are family time but then it feels like we spend all day repeating our evenings. Date nights are few and far between because let’s be honest time just seems to fly by until you stop and realize it’s been a month since your last date night and that’s if you are lucky! David and I are firm believers that our relationship needs to come first over the kids because their lives would be impacted much more by a divorce. But that is hard to do in everyday practice.
Love Bubble
That belief though that our relationship needs to come first is exactly why I believe every couple needs an anniversary session. It is a deliberate time out from all the other aspects of life that take you away from each other. Remember when you were first dating and how you spent every second possible with each other? I remember we had deliberate nights off where we stayed at our respective homes and then around 9 pm as we settled into bed one of us, aka David would text me that he wished I was with him and I would get up get dressed and drive to his house. We were sappily in love ;)!
Relationship First
I don’t think it matters how long you’ve been married, it could be a year it could be 6 years, 10 years, 20 years or more! You could feel like you have been drifting and you NEED to regain your connection. Or you could be hopelessly in love still! Take the time to put your relationship first, remember that it all started because you fell in love. You fell in love because you had a spark and common interests and you enjoyed each other’s company more than anyone else’s. Get back to that and celebrate!
