Inn at the Old Silk Mill Military Wedding
The Couple
Ashley and Chris have one of those beautiful love stories that started off as friends and eventually when the timing was right blossomed into a storybook romance. Once they were finally together they knew it was a perfect fit! I loved how throughout the day you could just see Chris looking at her in awe, almost wondering how he could have gotten so lucky.
Ashley has two adorable little boys so this wasn’t just the union of a new husband and wife this was the start of a new family together. During the ceremony the boys helped light the unity candle as a symbol that together they were all one. I loved catching the sweet moments during the day of Ashley and her boys, photos of them embracing that I know she will cherish forever!
The Day
When Ashley first contacted me about her wedding and told me they were going for a 1920’s speakeasy vibe I was totally on board! They picked the Inn at the Old Silk Mill which was the perfect backdrop for their style. In fact you could almost imagine the Mill back in the 20’s being converted into a secret bar after hours. I’m sure it wasn’t that way but it sounds cool and romantic, lol!
Being a Marine wife myself I loved all the military touches Chris & Ashley included like the groom and groomsmen in their blues! Even more fun was the sword arch they did into the reception with the tradition of passage being granted by a kiss. Later they cut the cake with the sword and Ashley showed off some amazing biceps as she cut through the layers!
The Story
What blew me away the most was hearing that Ashley hand made her wedding dress!!! She founds some vintage dress patterns and cobbled together her own design from that and then sewed her own dress. AMAZING!!! What I love the most is how she created her own design based on inspiration from others. Seriously that is my mantra with all my DIY projects! She also made the invitation set which was stunning and elegant! Plus my second shooter Samantha and I could not figure out how she hand lettered the escort cards to fit all the letters with spacing. Ashley can perform magic is my guess!
I hope you enjoy this beautiful Inn at the Old Silk Mill Military wedding just as much as I did!
