Love It! Hate It! Kind Boaters

I skipped my column two weeks ago to bring you a fabulous sneak peek of an engagement session I was positively giddy over but I’m back again with those things in life that make it worth living and those that remind us to appreciate the good!

Love It!

1.  Kind Boaters!  With David not being able to get out of work I was elected to go up to the boat and secure it for the incoming storm of Hurricane Irene.  Um yeah I had no idea what to do.  I was given basic instructions to add extra dock lines and take down the dodger.  Oh and see what everyone else is doing 🙂  We have been blessed since we bought our boat to make friends with two older couples on our dock and they have been a wealth of information.  When I arrived at the marina it was hopping, boats were stacked in the yard from those that elected to pull out and ride out the storm on shore.  I headed down to our slip and was greeted by our neighbors who jumped in to save a girl who had no clue.  They helped me so much and thanks to them our boat rode out the storm with no damage!  We drove up yesterday to check on her and bring bottles of wine for our kind neighbors!  I really love the boating community camaraderie!

2.  Unexpected Time!  I was originally scheduled to second shoot a wedding on Saturday in Richmond.  I was a little worried about traveling during the storm and getting stranded.  As luck would have it I got a reprieve and instead spent the day at home with my hubby.  This lead to hours of talking in our kitchen about whatever was on our minds.  We even learned a few things about each other that in six years we had never talked about.  It was a great opportunity to grow closer!  We both can be so busy with our schedules that unexpected time together is a blessing to our marriage.  I’m even more excited to spend a week with David having a new adventure to bring our boat home!

3.  Shirley Temple!  The drink and the actress!  When I was a kid I loved going to Ruby Tuesday because they offered me a Shirley Temple drink and I thought I was so cool getting a fancy drink.  It was years later before I realized it was Sprite and Grenadine but I still loved it.  Even now I’m known to order a Shirley Temple when we go out!  I also love the actress, I got on a kick recently and our Netflix queue is full of her old movies.  She was so cute!!  I can’t stand it!!  Love, love, love her!!!  Today’s delivery was Bright Eyes, yay!!  David doesn’t get it.

Hate It!

1.  Worry!  I’m a worry wart and between earthquakes and hurricanes my worry level has been on high.  I need to spend more time laying my worry down and trusting in the Lord that everything will be fine.
