Wow it has been awhile since I shared some things I love and maybe one thing that I hate but I figured a birthday edition was just the ticket to get me out of my slump! So if you are friends with me on Facebook you know that my birthday was on Sunday because you know Facebook won’t let you forget with their handy dandy never goes away reminders ;). Thank you everyone for the wonderful bday wishes and I’m not sure what the etiquette is but I tried to “like” every one of your posts! That’s my FB way of saying thanks! 😉 So let’s get into this!
Love It!
1. Birthday Traditions! I love traditions and birthdays are a time of family traditions I think. As a kid birthdays were celebrated with a KFC family meal bucket at my great grandma’s house plus of course cake and ice cream. As I got older the KFC was replaced with lasagne or spaghetti but still with cake and ice cream. This year we tried out barbeque for my birthday and David tried to slide a cheesecake with no ice cream past me. Um no. There must be real cake and it must be lemon for my birthday! That is the tradition :)! So in addition to the cheesecake a lemon cake was made thanks to a Pinterest recipe. Throw in a couple scoops of ice cream for everyone and a rousing round of Happy Birthday and the tradition was complete!
2. Family & Friends! I love hosting parties at our home, we don’t do it often but I love having lots of friends over and good conversation. Typically our parties include kids and adults and it’s fun to be adding Will and Ethan to the mix! This party was just like the others with the guys on the deck, the girls in the kitchen and the kids running around screaming while being chased by my Dad and brother! Of course this time Dad has Will in his arms as they all run around screaming 🙂 I love it! This year’s party was a bit impromptu so thank to the friends that came out even with a last minute invitation!
3. Power Tools! Yes for my birthday my lovely husband got me a cordless drill! You have no idea how excited that makes me, no longer trying to find an outlet that is within reach of whatever project I’m working on or dig out the extension cord. Nope my fancy cordless drill has a built in light to see whatever I’m working on, a hook for attaching to my fabulous pink toolbelt I got from my coworkers a couple years back and rechargeable batteries! I feel a little like Tim Allen when I fire it up!
Hate It!
1. Birthday Calories! So I say we all get a free pass on our birthday and calories don’t count! Of course when you find yourself still eating cake and ice cream 3 days later it’s not so easy to pretend those don’t count. So darn that cake for being so good and for making me go past my birthday into days where calories do count!
Oh and here is a photo of another of my birthday presents! I love sitting in my office watching the different birds come and eat!
