The brief glimpse of the sun and slightly warmer weather yesterday was such a tease, I’m ready for warm breezes and being on the water again! Last year David and I bought a sailboat and it is funny because whenever I tell someone we have a boat I suddenly have a new best friend! haha! With David’s travel schedule and pre-deployment stuff we didn’t get to use it very much but any chance we did have we were out there. We take the girls with us too! They love to go out on the boat, Sadie likes to jump in and swim and will wait by the swim ladder for us to let her off. Maxie looks like she really wants to go in but is usually too scared to actually do it. Don’t worry they both have doggy life vests that they get to wear as soon as we get to the dock now. We had an incident last year where they both decided to jump off the dock into the water and it was a huge pain to get them back out. Now they have handles and enough flotation to give us some time to grab them if needed. Our sailboat which is still unnamed is a little Hunter 23.5 and was built in the 90’s. It definitely has early 90’s characteristics like purple, teal and pink fabric inside and stripes on the outside. Yeah that is something that is changing! I’m more of a classic girl so I’m going old school with navy and white striped fabric for the cushions and solid navy for the bimini top. This has been a big project because we ended up replacing all the interior cushions and added cushions to the seating on the top deck, so I’ve been up to my eyeballs in foam and fabric. My Gram has rescued me with sewing the covers for the top deck and v-berth cushions and I’m tackling the rest of the interior cushions. When David gets home we are going to work on the exterior of the boat and get her all cleaned up and painted. I cannot wait to get back out on the water and take some pics to show off the new look! One of my favorite memories from last summer was laying under the jib with David enjoying the warm breeze and sailing along, it was a perfect moment!! It was only topped by spending our anniversary on the boat over 4th of July and watching no less then 30 firework shows along the shores from Woodbridge down past Quantico. It was completely amazing and a perfect anniversary!! I will leave you with an iPhone pic of our beautiful boat at the dock!

See everyone wants to be best friends with boat people 😉 haha, when we get her back in the water and fixed up we will have to take you and Robby out one Sunday for a sail!
