Summer Navy Inn at Willow Grove Wedding – “Thank you for being a friend, traveled down the road and back again, your heart is true you’re a pal and a confidant”. If you are a child of the 80’s or 90’s you know you started singing 5 words into this blog post! If you are a child of the 2000’s you have no idea what I’m talking about and for that I’m terribly sorry for you. Picture it my house circa 1989, I’m skipping school because I cough cough “don’t feel good”. I’m laid out on the couch watching late morning reruns before the soap operas start. I haven’t seen my Gram in awhile and so when I see Golden Girls is on I immediately tune in!
See my Gram has always reminded me of Dorothy, I think it was the fact they both were tall and dressed similar plus they both shared a good sarcastic wit! So whenever I missed my Gram I would start watching GG and after 2-3 days of this my mom would call my Gram and tell her to come get me and hang out. Have I mentioned before that my Gram is literally my favorite person in the world! Okay so at this point you are wondering how this story has anything to do with Aly and Bryan’s wedding unless you know Aly and then you know exactly where I’m going with this!
When Aly first sent me an email inquiring about my availability for her wedding I noticed one tiny detail in her emails and it was the black and white profile photo she had that was the Golden Girls. I casually relayed my Gram story and my love of GG. I didn’t think much of it but that little story totally booked the wedding for me and it was AWESOME! I want to book all my weddings over a mutual love of GG!!! Aly responded back that she was a huge Rose fan and that the venue coordinator I had worked with before Gabrielle was a Blanche fan. Thus I was now the 3rd Golden Girl and was henceforth known as Dorothy! Of course this has since turned into the 3 of us tagging each other in anything Golden Girls related we find online. I love it!!!!
Aly’s love and knowledge of GG is a thing of beauty! In fact her bridal shower was GG themed, oh my god how much fun is that!!! Ugh I’m so wishing I had done a GG themed baby shower when I was pregnant.
So now that I’ve spent this entire blog post talking about Golden Girls I’ll let you guys look at some photos! My favorite thing about working with Aly and Bryan is the laughter that was apparent throughout the day! Despite car accidents and summer thunderstorms there was still a ton of laughter and love!
True story, 30 seconds after I took this photo there was a car accident right beside me which pushed the best man’s car with him in it right behind this sign. He and his passengers were okay thank goodness. I like to think a guardian angel was looking out for me that day as I normally stand right where the car ended up when taking photos of the wedding signs but that day I decided to pull further down and get the sign from a different angle. Thank you sweet baby Jesus!
Leave these two love, if they get 25 comments on this blog post, they will receive a complimentary 8×10″ print of their favorite wedding day image.
