I’m thrilled to bring you another beautiful Virginia wedding venue! This week I’m featuring Historic Mankin Mansion located in Richmond, Virginia. One of my favorite weddings of the year took place here! The grounds of the mansion are stunning, it reminds me of an outdoor garden you would find at a castle. There were no bad places for photographs and I had so much fun with Rachel and Steve during their portrait session! The staff was top notch keeping things on schedule and when they told me I had an additional 15 min for portraits with my happy couple I could have jumped for joy! It gave us plenty of time to wander around the grounds and get so many more great photos.

Tell me about your wedding venue! (Name, location, # of guests you can accommodate, basic details, contact info, onsite coordinator, etc)
Historic Mankin Mansion is a ceremony and reception venue located just minutes from Downtown Richmond. We initially purchased the property in a dilapidated state and after two years of restorations, opened our doors to weddings and events in 2006. Since then, we’ve had the pleasure of hosting countless weddings- each more exquisite than the last.
Our wedding resort is available for weddings and receptions for up to 200 guests from April through October. We also just announced that we will now host receptions November through March as well. Brides have the option of booking a One Day Package or selecting a Wedding Weekend package, which allows the celebrations to continue on for days.
Tours of the mansion are by appointment only. Please call 804-737-7773 to arrange one today. Also be sure to find them on Facebook and Twitter!
Describe your ceremony and reception spaces!
Historic Mankin Mansion feature impeccably manicured grounds with a formal English Garden. The ceremony is held below our 100 year old Sycamore Tree and the festivities are then moved to our tented reception Pavilion. Brides love that we provide our own tables, chairs and linens, as well as Mansion accessories & décor. We provide the ideal backdrop for our brides’ to add their own personal signature touches.
What makes your venue unique?
The history and architecture alone sets the Mansion apart from the standard hotel or banquet space. Brides who want a wedding at the Mansion are often looking for a venue that truly takes their guests’ breath away- and I’m happy to say that we deliver on that every time! Additionally, we have spent just as much time behind the scenes making sure the day runs smoothly to ensure that our brides and grooms have just one thing to do on their wedding day- effortlessly float through the day of their dreams!
How can you help couples with planning their big day?
We pride ourselves on having the very best onsite wedding planning team! Our brides and grooms are introduced to their wedding planner as soon as they book and are with her every step of the way- from creating a wedding day vision and selecting décor to booking vendors and day of logistics. We also serve as the bride’s concierge- assisting them with weekend activities for their out of town guests and coordinating outings.
Is there anything else you’d like brides and grooms to know about your venue?
Joining the wedding industry more than twenty years ago, we felt it was a unique and special honor to share in such an amazing day. We feel that we, along with our wonderful staff, have created a magical place for brides & grooms to celebrate in a lovely and romantic atmosphere. It is our hope that everyone feels our enthusiasm and love for what we do and that our passion is reflected on their most special day!
From a photographers standpoint there are so many great spots for photos! The brides getting ready room gets plenty of light and has a beautiful wardrobe with a mirrored door that is great to use to get different angles for photos. The ceremony location is setup in a brick courtyard with plenty of room for all your guests. The wedding party stands on a brick platform and in the middle is a beautiful wrought iron pergola that can be decorated. When it comes to portrait time there are so many beautiful spots to take photos I promise you won’t be disappointed!

I love their landscaping! How cool are those twisty bushes?!?! Inside the house guests can relax and use the restrooms.

I love the chandeliers, so gorgeous!!! Plus I have to say that white tents provide the best light, love them!!!

Such a cute idea to have the drink menus on these antique trays converted to chalkboards! These reside in the cutest little brick building outside the tent where the bar is, there are fairy lights strung there too which you will see in some photos further down!

A great extra touch is having refreshments available for your guests before the ceremony.

I could see a bride using those moss balls and have them hanging from the pergola, so pretty!

Just a few spots for portraits, there are so many options this is just a few!

So cute with the lights, I knew we had to do photos here when it got dark!

Plenty of space for your guests to wander around and enjoy the manicured grounds!
