Welcome to my third vendor interview with Ashley Alphin half of the creative team at C & A Events! I had the opportunity to sit down with Ashley last week and chat about all things wedding. I wish I had an Ashley for my wedding planning, it would have made things so much easier on me and things would have run so much smoother. Even just a day of coordinator can be a miracle worker so you can be a bride that day and not worry about all the details. As a photographer I love coordinators because they keep the schedule running smoothly and when we are on schedule then I don’t lose any portrait time! I’m really excited to work with Ashley on styling engagement sessions and she will be coming back with a guest post on how to do just that! I love to encourage my couples to make their engagement session all about them but I know that can be overwhelming. 1. Tell me about your business! What do you do? What makes your business different?
C & A Events is a collaboration of a Mother/Daughter team, Cathy and Ashley. We specialize in weddings and we believe that about all, your wedding should be yours! Our role as a wedding planner is: We handle every last detail for you. Acting as your very own personal wedding assistant and coordinator. This encompasses planning, directing and coordinating. We will help you select your wedding vendors, assist with designing your wedding and confirming every detail. Two on-site wedding coordinators will orchestrate every aspect of your wedding day including, ensuring that you and your wedding party are prepared promptly for your photographs, directing your ceremony, supervising your reception set-up, queuing your first dance, initiating your dinner service, prompting your cake cutting and packing up your belongings at the end of your reception. Besides orchestrating your day, we will make sure all your vendors are on the itinerary we establish, we will make sure your ceremony and reception are exactly what you asked for.
2. What was your inspiration for opening your business?
My mom has always wanted to open her own business and with weddings running through my veins from a very young age, I’ve always been passionate about the planning process and all that goes into executing the wedding. In 2009, I decided to take the leap for both my mom and I, and C & A Events began it’s journey.
3. What is your favorite part of your job?
Working with my mom, she has so much knowledge of the wedding industry – every day I learn something new from her.
4. What inspires you?
I follow countless blogs – it gives me the opportunity to see what others are doing around the world and inspires me to push my creativity more and more – the ones that catch my eye the most are posts with bright colors or flowers, lots of little details and photography not only catching the details but the emotions.
5. As a wedding planner, what is the number one piece of advice you would pass along to brides?
Hire a wedding planner – one you trust! We keep everything organized and ensure the day runs smoothly. Lastly, relax and take in your special day!
