“Worth every penny! Get your stunning photos quick! She really over delivers when it comes to service. I won’t spoil anything, but expect lots of sweet surprises from Melissa as you work with her. We will use Melissa for years to come! Her newborn, family, and pet photos are phenomenal as well.”
Paige & Matt married May 2015
Tides Inn Wedding
While planning her Tides Inn wedding, Paige was inspired by all things Northern Neck. She said, “Everything that makes the Northern Neck so charming, the beautiful rivers, the laid-back lifestyle and friendly people, the country roads, the delicious blue crabs and oysters, and the history of this amazing part of Virginia. You don’t need a theme when you get married in the place that makes you the happiest people on Earth!”
She was also inspired by their friends and family, all the amazing memories of good time together throughout the years. Paige said, “I can remember many bbq’s, bonfires and on sunny days jamming to all our favorite songs. I wanted the wedding to be more like a get-away with friends then a formal affair.” She loved how preppy the wedding was, she wanted East Coast Preppy meets Southern Charm – not too stuffy and not too country. Paige told us, “I loved how it was the perfect balance. I wanted to give our guests a taste of the Northern Neck lifestyle as % of them had never been there before. Throughout the weekend we had so many people tell us they had so much fun, didn’t want to leave, and couldn’t wait to come back and take a family trip to Virginia again.”
Paige’s favorite wedding day details included the unreal flowers that were like nothing she had ever seen. She also loved the Tides Inn wedding ceremony location and how the gorgeous sailboats navigating Carter’s Creek provided the perfect stunning backdrop. The best part of the ceremony was Kai their “Ring Security” who came down the aisle to the 007 theme song to deliver the rings to the minister! Some of their DIY details included the seating assignment board, coordinates of the Tides Inn and wedding photos of their parents. Paige also added the blue striped ribbons to her shoes! She also made a horseshoe after reading a bridal superstition book she found at BHLDN that mentioned you should have an upwards facing horseshoe somewhere at the wedding. Another little detail they DIYed were the oyster shells they used as place cards.
Some of her favorite wedding memories were the surprise dance performances at the reception! Paige’s parents had a coordinated dance including costumes to “All About That Base”. Later their New Orleans friends performed “Rollin on the River”. Paige felt that, “Music is a big part of our lives and brings back so many memories of good times with friends. I incorporated all those special songs into the reception.”
Her advice for future brides is to START EARLY! Hire a great wedding planner who knows the area, has done a wedding at your venue before and has an extensive list of preferred and trusted vendors. Also plan with your guests in mind especially if it is a destination wedding. Paige said, “Give them as much information as possible so they know waht to wear, where to be, how they are getting there and what to expect. Keep them happy, well-fed and a drink in their hand and everyone will have a great time. Keep the party moving so there are no times when people are standing around wondering what’s coming next or what they are supposed to do.”
The editors at Tidewater & Tulle loved Paige and Matt’s rehearsal dinner and wedding and featured them both on their wedding blog to inspire more brides!
