My Life : 32 weeks

Wow it’s so hard to believe that we are into the single digit countdown on weeks!  It reminds me of counting down the final weeks of deployments for David which I’m also doing right now too!  You start setting small milestones like seeing a commercial for your favorite tv show and realizing your deployed spouse will be back before it airs.  Maybe it’s a movie you’ve been dying to see and you know that once it hits theaters you will have only days left before you are reunited with your love!  I still remember the last deployment when David’s trunk showed up with all his stuff and I cried in the driveway because it was a huge milestone that he would be home soon.  My mail lady was so sweet and hugged me as I cried and told her my Marine was coming home.  This time David coming home is a milestone for me to realize that just weeks after he gets home we will become parents.  I submitted a wedding to a magazine recently and was told I would know by November if it was accepted and my first thought was holy cow I’ll have a son or daughter before I know if this wedding is getting published!!

Things have been quiet on the blog for the last six weeks as I enjoyed a break in wedding season and a chance to relax.  I’ve been working on tons of sewing projects for the nursery and just getting things decorated for Skipper!  I’ve been slowly picking up gender neutral clothes and freaking out because I have no idea how many outfits a newborn goes through in one day.  Should I get more onesies or more sleepers and gowns?!?!  I need a list!!!  I’m the type that loves a list that I can check off.  I want a list that says new parents should have X short sleeve onesies, X long sleeve, X gowns, X sleepers etc.  Then I can make sure I have those and feel satisfied when I check them off the list.  Can you tell I’m a nervous new mom? 😉  Don’t even get me started on the sizes, Newborn vs 0-3 months and what to have more of!  As another pregnant friend mentioned recently it’s not like we live in the wilderness, Target is right down the street and has everything we might need.  If we run out of clothes then David or I can just pop down there and pick more up.  It will be fun to branch out of the gender neutral section and pick up some pink or blue outfits once we know what Skipper is!  I know my sister is chomping at the bit to pick out cute gender specific outfits for our little one.  I keep joking that she will be running straight from the delivery room to the nearest baby clothes store to buy a going home outfit for a girl or boy for us!

I love hearing from my brides that they are keeping up with my pregnancy on Facebook and here on the blog, I get asked a lot how I’m doing with my weddings and being on my feet.  Honestly I’m doing great!!  I bring tons of water to drink on a wedding day and I have a great second shooter, Lindsay, who backs me up when I need to pee ;)!  The current heat wave has not been fun but I make sure to limit my time and my bride and groom’s time in the sun because no one likes baking under direct sun at 95+ degrees.  I’ve traded my spanx for a maternity version and you might see me in flip flops at the reception now but other then that it’s business as usual!  Oh except I cry a lot for no particular reason.  Anything really sad or really sweet sets me off and sometimes for absolutely no reason at all I just feel like crying.

I’m so excited for my weddings this fall because each one is another milestone that gets me closer to my husband coming home and becoming a mom for the first time!
