Love It! Hate It! Pinterest Edition

MyStylePinterest

I know, I know this is probably the third maybe even the fourth time I’ve talked about Pinterest on the blog.  If you aren’t on Pinterest you might be sick of hearing about it and if you are on Pinterest you completely get the obsession!!  So I’ve talked about Pinterest for weddings, Pinterest for photographers well this time I’m talking about it from a general life perspective.  I thought I’d tell you a bit about what I love and hate about Pinterest when it comes to using it for my personal life.  Oh and if I’ve finally convinced you that you need an account just reply in the comments with your email address and I’ll send you an invite!  If you are already on Pinterest check out the new button on the blog to Get Inspired With Me on Pinterest!  It’s up top there under the wedding slideshow!  Plus you’ll notice a Pin It button on each post so you can post your favorite photos!

Love It!

1. Outfit Ideas!  I am not one of those girls that can descend on a sale rack and find the perfect item to create an outfit.  I am a girl that needs to see an outfit put together, I need inspiration.  Otherwise I end up wearing the same thing over and over again.  Stephanie over at Fab You Bliss posted the other week about picking an outfit from the J. Crew catalog and recreating it at her local thrift store.  Looking at the inspiration outfit I realized I had some very similar pieces already in my closet so I pulled them out and had a new outfit that day!  This got me started on what other outfits could I make from what I already have.  I headed over to my Style pinboard on Pinterest and started shopping in my closet.  I pulled together at least 3 new outfits that I never would have thought of before!  Total cost was $0 because I already owned the pieces!!  From Pinterest I discovered a blog of a girl, Lilly whose style I adore and I had pinned several of her looks already.  I’m thinking of challenging myself to creating one new outfit each week from Pinterest and taking a photo and posting it through Instagram.  I just need a name for the challenge!

2. Baking/Cooking Recipes!  So if you read the blog on a regular basis you may have caught on that I’m not a chef by any means.  I leave that up to David he is my live in chef/husband!  He loves to cook and I love to find new stuff for him to cook!  So now I pin recipes for him to try and for me to enjoy!  There is something about photos of the food that make a recipe so much more appealing!  Plus I can do a quick search on Pinterest when we are bored and come up with tons of ideas!

3. Decorating!  When I knew I was going to be signing on my office space I started obsessing about how I wanted to decorate!  Pinterest was the perfect place to keep track of my ideas and to get new ones.  Like the sideboard I pinned from an office I was in LOVE with!  Yep that one had me up in the middle of the night figuring out where it came from and how could I get one!  By having my ideas all in one place it was easy to see what would work and what wouldn’t in my space.  Plus I put together a board on how to display photos for clients but I used it also to figure out how to display my work in the new office!

Hate It!

1. No Private Boards!  I really wish Pinterest would let you have private boards along with your public boards.  Sometimes it is nice to put together some ideas and wait to share them.

There is a weird phenomenon when it comes to Pinterest that I must warn you about!  You will jump on and start browsing the pins for just a few minutes and next thing you know your computer will say an hour as passed.  But we both know you only spent 5 minutes on the site right?!?!  That is the weird phenomenon of Pinterest, it’s like you are in some weird time slip.  So don’t be surprised when it happens to you!
