Engaged: Allison and John Georgetown, DC Engagement Session

There is a special bond among those that love a military man, it is a life that no one else can understand.  The time apart leads to such sweet reunions and there is always the excitement of seeing each other again.  On those days when he is dressed in his blues your heart sings with love and pride.  That love has to be strong and never ending but it is the type of love that Allison and John share.  It is the type of love that gets them through his time away in Basic school right now when they only see each other when she can fly in.

Allison and John met in college, Ball State University and after dating through college John proposed in his blues on Dauphin island the day after Christmas.  This summer they will gather with friends and family to celebrate their love when they are married in Allison’s father’s church back in Indiana.  He will walk her down the aisle and then perform the wedding ceremony for his very own little girl.  I have photographed weddings like this before and the ceremony is always so poignant for the bride and emotional for everyone else attending.  It is truly a moving experience.  I am very envious of their wedding photographer out there because he/she is going to get to capture a gorgeous couple and all the love they will have on their wedding day.  Seriously these two are so adorable I squealed a couple times editing their photos because of the cuteness!

I met Allison and John outside the famous Georgetown Cupcakes where the wait was already 45min and people were in a line that stretched almost a block.  It was also the windiest day we’ve had in a long while, it was the type of wind you could not escape, trust me I tried.  I’m also not very familiar with Georgetown so I just picked a direction and we started walking and finding places to shoot.  Huge props to Allison for enduring the cool temperatures and the wind in a dress and super cute heels for half the session!!  John looked very handsome in his blues and I have to say it is hands down the best looking military uniform out there.  I loved shooting their engagement session, Allison your are gorgeous and so sweet!  John I’m totally on your side when it comes to the dog discussion, I’ve got your back!!  Enjoy your photos!  Don’t forget to check out the slideshow at the end and leave them some love in the comments!  Also vote for your favorite photos under each image, yes you can pick more then one ;)

Obviously John it is a privilege to wear the uniform but I must admit, the smiles get bigger with casual wear. Allison,no doubt you will make a beautiful bride. Melissa, as usual you show the fun in every couple.

Grandma and Grandpa- Melissa, You did a great job, beautiful pictures of beautiful people. However, John did not comb his hair before the pictures, okay, so his hair is a little short. We are very proud of you both. May the happiness reflected in these pictures be with you always.

melissa - February 25, 2011 - 8:46 pm
